I actually want to comment on a post of yours from 2001, regarding the film Return of Count Yorga. My mother took me to see it, for some reason, when I was eight years old in 1971. It scared the HELL out of me. I never have forgotten it. Today of course I can appreciate the retro erotic camp of it all. But I still get pretty creeped out !
Most of the 1970s horror movies do that for me. They’ve got this gritty matter of factness, unrefined touch about them that makes the horror more intense. My mom took me to see Night of the Living Dead. Yup. That scarred me more than anything before or since.
