On the Set of Strait-Jacket
With Joan Crawford
It's a shame Joan Crawford didn't get a chance to play a Countess Dracula-type role. Look at her studio system Hollywood presence and sophistication. Then look at her wielding that axe or being angry. Imagine some fangs in there and you'll see what I mean. Whatever her private life may have been, you can't deny she had the acting chops.
Faces of Janet Munro
Rummaging through Professor Kinema's files, I came across these photos of Janet Munro, two of which are from The Crawling Eye, an effective chiller that should be remade. Who doesn't love crawling eye monsters? Munro died at the age of 38.
Bela Lugosi Meets Mother Jones
Professor Kinema just alerted me to another face of Bela Lugosi, this time on the cover of Mother Jones magazine.
Politics aside, I'll simply note the only Dracula who could embody the essence of "the superrrich sucking America dry" is the one and only Bela Lugosi. Someone at Mother Jones is definitely a monsterkid.
Aristocratic and upper crust evil never looked so rich in tie and tails.
