I saw this dancing Frankenstein Monster at CVS. Probably Gemmy. Wish it used the Monster Mash music, though. I would have bought it if it did. How can you not have Frankie dance to the Monster Mash?

Halloween 2013: CVS Stores Decorations
Making the usual rounds, CVS keeps impressing me with their taste in Halloween decorations each year. Ever since the GREAT RECESSION, I’ve not seen as much Halloween merchandise in the stores; and what’s showing up is usually not at the quality level I’ve seen years back. But visiting CVS stores and other local haunts each year is never disappointing, I’ll say that. I especially love the pumpkin vine arms!
Now if only I could find a LITTLE MORE ROOM in my house…and once I do, sneak in with the stuff before my wife catches me…I’d be right as rain 😉

I saw these 3D window stickers at a Dollar Tree Store. Similar to the more humorous Halloween Pop Up Stickers I found there last year in design, these are pretty amazing in their serious monster art and dark mood. Other entries in this series included spiders, rats, etc. Would love to see these in a much larger format.

Walgreens Animated Ghoulish Coffin Riser
Found these at Walgreens, discounted to half-price! Better grab onto a couple of bats and fly over to the store nearest you before they sell out. The light up skull plays–what else?–the classic theme from Halloween. The clown is the creepiest of the bunch, even just lying there, but when he pops up and screams, well, who doesn't love a creepy, screaming colorful clown on Halloween? I immediately thought of Pennywise the clown from Stephen King's novel, It, when I saw that happy–and toothy–grin. I plan on putting a few candies in the coffin with him and seeing how badly I can get a kid to pee his (or her) costume. Nah, not really. But then again…

Animated Zombies Overrun CVS
I found this handsome dude at CVS/Pharmacy. The little 28-inch high fellow followed me home. His eyes light up as his head and hands loll around as he moans and groans. For some odd reason, a blast of mad-scientist-stormy-night punctuates his hunger pangs every so often, too. He freaked out the clerk at the register, and Minnie, my Miniature Schnauzer, barked like crazy and wanted to rip him apart the minute she saw him. So, yes, he’s a keeper. Funny how they dress all these Halloween zombies in suits and ties; some subtle social commentary going on or just a coincidence? I wonder.
Halloween 2012: Michaels Store Display
Here's my first sighting of Halloween 2012 at a Michaels Store. An aisle's worth of shelves was being cleared to make way for more gruesome goodies, but they had started on the endcaps. Can you smell the candy corn?
Halloween Crashing Betty Bash Witch
Halloween witches crashing into things is always funny. We do love to make fun of our monsters, don’t we? This Betty Bash, the Crashing Witch colliding with a tree is a chuckle tickler; crashing into trees seems more humorous than witches crashing into the ground: you see more limbs akimbo than those broomstick and legs sticking up out of the ground kind of tableaus. There’s something primal about witches crashing into massive oaks and gnarled bark.
But when you turn the box around, which I did after buying Betty Bash, it says not to use outdoors (see 2nd photo). Say what? Isn’t that Betty wrapped around that tree trunk in the action photo? I’m confused. Maybe I should have gotten Patty Crunch, the Ground Smackin’ Witch instead?
